Residence of Imperial Pleasures

Schönbrunn Palace served the House of Habsburg as the summer residence from the middle of the 18th Century. In 1904 emperor Franz Joseph declared the palace as his year-round residence.

Following this great tradition, the Querfeld family christened the Café they established in the best Viennese tradition Café Residenz.
The esteemed guests are here served imperial delicacies, from a Coffee Maria Theresa through the favourite dish of emperor Franz Joseph, the Tafelspitz (boiled fillet of beef) to Kaiserschmarrn (shredded pancake with sugar and raisins).

The Hofbackstube (Bakers to the Crown) can be found in the venerable vaults below the Café, where apple strudel shows are regularly held.
